The SBCI (UNEP Sustainable Buildings and Construction Initiative) database for policy tools for energy efficiency in buildings presents a unique comparison and analysis of experiences from using different kinds of policy tools in over 50 countries on all continents. The database allows identification of policy tools and policy tool combinations in relation to their effectiveness on greenhouse gas emission reduction; to their cost effectiveness; and to success factors of relevance to each instrument. The SBCI database consists of:

    1. A summary of conclusions and recommendations,
    2. The full study and analysis of the policy tools,
    3. Data tables summarizing the key features and effects of each tool individually, and in comparison with each other.
