25.06.2004 | General newsSCOPE Rapid Assessment Projects complement the Long Term Assessments of environmental issues
Recent and forthcoming assessment reports
SCOPE has a standing tradition with Longer Term Assessments of environmental issues. Some of these issues are progressing at a very speedy rate but have not reached any final consensus.
SCOPE has thus decided to conduct Rapid Assessment Projects through a fast-track process with discussion of cross cutting issues, ensuring that the discussions and results of an international expert consultation are made available to the public within one year of the time of the meeting.
SCOPE, the Scientific Committee on Problems of the Environment, brings together natural and social scientists to identify emerging or potential environmental issues and to address jointly the nature and solution of environmental problems on a global basis.
Island Press publishes this series of books in conjunction with SCOPE.
