IPCC published the first report «Climate Change 2001: The Scientific Basis» (2001)

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has begun the process of releasing its Third Assessment Report (TAR) with the first contribution from Working Group I -- «Climate Change 2001: The Scientific Basis». This report is the authoritative new benchmark of what is known about climate change science. Critically reviewing the scientific evidence and progress made since 1995, the IPCC's latest report offers a comprehensive, balanced, and credible assessment of the science of climate change, the driving forces and possible impacts of change, and the potential adaptation and mitigation options. The TAR results represent an unprecedented consensus among hundreds of climate change scientists from all over the world. The summary for policy makers can be downloaded as pdf file (750kByte) http://www.ipcc.ch/pub/spm22-01.pdf
The latest findings of the three IPCC reports will be reviewed at the Joint ProClim, OcCC, BUWAL forum in Bern on March 19, 2001. The summaries will be presented by Swiss experts involved in the report.
