The goal of the agroBIODIVERSITY Science Plan and Implementation Strategy is to establish the scientific basis needed to address the trade-offs between food production, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services, and human well-being in agricultural landscapes.
Three key research foci of the agroBIODIVERSITY Science Plan integrate the biological and social sciences:
- To assess biodiversity in agricultural landscapes and the anthropogenic drivers of biodiversity change;
- To identify the goods and services provided by agrobiodiversity at various levels of biological organisation, e.g. genes, species, communities, ecosystems and landscapes;
- To evaluate the socioeconomic options for the sustainable use of biodiversity in agricultural landscapes.
